Renate Stendhal is a German-born, Paris-educated writer and writing consultant who lives in San Francisco’s Marin County. Among her published books is the award-winning photobiography (a genre she created) Gertrude Stein: In Words and Pictures (Algonquin Books), republished in 2009. She has lectured widely on Stein, nationally and internationally, most recently at the American Literature Association (see blog post ) and deposited a memorial stone for Gertrude Stein in the German Women’s Memorial Labyrinth.
